Leadership Academy Logistics
The Academy takes place at Assumption College in Worcester, MA during the summer.
The Academy is open to all rising 9th, 10th, 11th graders. They may attend as individuals or formal teams such as sports captains or class officers. Students come from area schools, states, France, Luxembourg, and beyond!
We cap each Academy at 64 students to provide maximum individualized attention, support and ensure the highest quality education. Registration is first come, first serve.
Students are responsible for organizing their own rides to and from the Academy. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks are provided through Assumption’s dining hall.
The week-long, overnight Academy cost is $875. Room & board, campus facilities usage, student supplies, insurance, and all meals are included in the cost. Students will receive notebooks, pens, t-shirts, water bottles, tote bags, and other materials for success!
Students work together in full groups and squads. Squads are groups of eight students assembled by similar age. Students participate, learn and grow collectively in a safe and structured environment.
Curriculum. Researched, practiced, incredibly life-changing.
Our Leadership Academy curriculum is dynamic, developmentally appropriate, impactful and seriously fun. Combining multiple forms of exceptional education practice, it is an awesome concoction of hands-on, discussion-based, visual, and exploratory teaching and learning practices. Students will…
- Complete team-building and problem solving activities
- Participate in leadership role plays and demonstrations
- Compete in team challenges in which each student is put into a leadership position
- Examine leaders in society who demonstrate our positive leadership traits
- Engage in teachings and stories from Evren and his staff regarding life and leadership
Research Meets Practice
Targeting this particular age group and developing our curriculum was as much about our practical experience as it was about our educational research. Evren J. Gunduz, founder/director, fused his award winning years of teaching and coaching middle and high school students with his studies and discoveries as a graduate student at Harvard University.
